About M-Zine
Independent journalism for the curious.
M-Zine was founded in 2018 on a single conviction: that the most interesting things happening in art, music, culture, and technology were not being covered with the seriousness they deserved. We set out to change that.
We are not a platform. We are not a brand. We are a magazine — edited, argued over, and published by people who believe that long-form writing, careful criticism, and genuine curiosity still matter in an era of infinite content.
Every piece we publish is commissioned, edited, and fact-checked. We do not accept sponsored content. We do not optimize for engagement. We write for readers who want to think, not just scroll.
Independence
No investors, no sponsors, no algorithmic pressure. We answer only to our readers.
Depth
We take the time a story needs. Some pieces take months. That is not a bug.
Curiosity
We follow ideas wherever they lead, across disciplines and across borders.
Honesty
We say what we think. We correct what we get wrong. We do not hedge for comfort.

Write for us.
M-Zine publishes a small number of unsolicited pitches each year. We are looking for writers who have something specific to say — a strong argument, an unusual angle, a subject they know deeply. We are not looking for trend pieces, listicles, or content.
Send a pitchpitches@m-zine.org
What we publish
Long-form essays, reported features, criticism, and interviews. Typical length is 1,500 to 5,000 words. We occasionally publish shorter pieces when the form demands it.
What to send
A pitch of 200 to 400 words describing your argument, your angle, and why you are the right person to write it. Include two or three links to published work. Do not send a completed draft unless we ask for one.
Response time
We read every pitch and respond to all of them, though it may take up to six weeks. If you have not heard from us after eight weeks, you may consider your pitch declined.
Rights and payment
We pay a flat fee for all commissioned work. Rates are discussed at the commissioning stage. We acquire first worldwide rights in all languages for a period of ninety days, after which rights revert to the author.
